Goldfish Swim School - Yonkers

The instructors and staff were nice but I don’t think they were very knowledgeable beyond whatever company training they get. My child never progressed further than where she started in the 3 months she was there. Instead of changing tactics, the teacher never tried new/different methods to get her to progress (which I did as soon as our pool opened this summer and she’s doing so much better). Just the same method over and over that clearly wasn’t working, very upset and waste of money. Look elsewhere for beginner lessons.

WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING ELSEWHERE! Took my son here, I highly discourage anyone from going to the Yonkers location. Very unprofessional staff from lifeguards to the general manager. You can tell this is a franchise owner that does not care about the company standards and only cares about the income the location makes. They made it a point to inform me they are one of the biggest locations in the company. They were pompous and were not assisting my three-year-old child when struggling to swim. AVOID AVOID AVOID

We absolutely love Goldfish Swim School on Central Ave! I have two boys—ages 4 and 2—and both have had such a wonderful experience. My 2-year-old and I attend the Mini 2 classes together, and it’s been amazing in helping him get comfortable and confident in the water. My 4-year-old started in the Junior series, and we cannot say enough great things about Mr. Ahmad. At one point, my son was extremely afraid of the water—he would cry every time we mentioned swim class. But with Mr. Ahmad’s patience, kindness, and encouragement, that fear quickly turned into excitement. Now he comes home talking about how much fun he had and everything he’s learning! He was recently moved up to J3, and we couldn’t be prouder. Thank you to Goldfish and especially Mr. Ahmad for playing such an important role in helping our son learn to swim while truly enjoying the process. We couldn’t recommend Goldfish more! - Jeet and Luca and & Filopei Family

Great month so far at GSS. We had some troubles with an instructor and the manager/supervisor fixed it right away by putting us with a consistent instructor. Small classes and attentive instructors. Follow up: Goldfish Swim School has been an absolutely wonderful experience for our family. From the moment you walk in, the staff is warm, patient, and genuinely invested in each child’s success and safety. The instructors are knowledgeable, encouraging, and know how to balance skill building with fun, which makes a huge difference for kids who may feel nervous around water. The environment is clean, well organized, and clearly designed with children in mind. Lessons are structured but flexible, allowing each child to progress at their own pace while still building confidence and water safety skills. Communication with families is excellent, and it truly feels like a supportive community rather than just a swim class. We have seen so much growth in confidence and ability, and it has been incredibly reassuring as a parent. I would highly recommend Goldfish Swim School to any family looking for high quality swim instruction in a positive, kid friendly setting.

Excellent swim program for kids! The instructors are knowledgeable and great with children, the staff is friendly, and the whole environment is safe and inviting. My child has improved so much since starting lessons. Definitely worth the investment if you’re looking for quality swim instruction in a positive setting.
